On Dauphin Island there are educational opportunities around every corner. Kids can learn about the environment and our rich cultural history through a variety of programs designed for groups of all ages. Our knowledgeable staff will work with you to ensure that your kids, classroom, or scouts’ educational needs are met.

The staff at historic Fort Gaines will bring history alive for children of all ages. Cadillac Square makes for excellent park to enjoy a picnic with your kids and classmates. Public restrooms are also located here. Also remember that the Dauphin Island Sea Lab’s Estuarium is just across the street from Fort Gaines.

The Bird Sanctuary provides a variety of opportunities for children of all ages to learn more about ecology of Alabama’s only barrier island. The tours of the Sanctuary are self-guided but educational and interpretative signage is made available throughout the trail system.
